Adobe has an active user group community, with over 700 groups that meet regularly to discuss products such as Captivate, Dreamweaver, Flash, and much more. Most of the well-known LMS vendors have user group meetings and/or conferences, including: Blackboard. Cornerstone. GeoLearning. Technology / Development-focused user groups.

I identify the Big Dogs as SumTotal by Skillsoft (yes, that is the actual name), Cornerstone OnDemand, Saba, SucessFactors and Oracle Taleo (although, I ask myself who is using this and if you still are why?). SumTotal by Skillsoft – the 2016 re-haul is a huge plus. SumTotal by Skillsoft. Saba Learning.

Expect to see an increase in systems adding compensation, other workforce mgt features and benefits to their products. Learn.com is now called Taleo. GeoLearning’s Maestro product is now called SumTotal Maestro. Vendors cannot include a PPT or sales pitch in their demo, it has to be 100% pure product.

The number one reason people leave their current system or purchase a different e-learning product? Every time I see a product, two statements seem to be universal. If I am a potential customer, I would expect nothing less to come out of the vendor’s mouth on their product and user friendliness. We never hear complaints.

Between the two systems, I am leaning more towards LMS365, just because I honestly believe it has a future in the SharePoint space much more so than their other product (nothing against it, but…). I’m not sure why they “appear” as separate products on their site. SumTotal by Skillsoft.

Most of the time (as is the case with Oracle) these are different products. I know the folks from CornerStone and their product does some really interesting things. As these systems catch up, this will make the market really hard for Saba and SumTotal. However, when you get low counts, the numbers are highly suspect.
