There are quite a number of learning system vendors who say on their web site or in their marketing literature, “learning experiences”, when they are not an LXP, rather they are a learning platform or an LMS. Learning Platform not to be confused with an LMS, because they argue they are different.

10 eLogic Learning - Essential LMS. M-Learning – not just courses, but also their Jam tool, recruiting, org chat, ability to connect to experts; no on/off synch. I want to be very clear on this – as a standalone LMS I would not go with them, but as a human capital management system (HCM), I would.

37 support m-learning. Let’s see Microsoft has only been announcing the coming of Windows 8 for several months, but as usual desktop authoring tools are behind the times. I am hearing from some vendors that they are having issues with Windows 8 and that Microsoft typically makes it difficult to really make it work.

I recall going directly to Rosetta Stone, buying some an entire Latin American course unit from them and having them place it into my LMS for me.

Many people auto associate Kinect with Microsoft and it is understandable why that it is – i.e. Xbox. The truth of the matter though is that the technology was created in Cambridge, England and not by anyone at Microsoft. But – you say – what about learning/education and training? What has always amazed me are number of e-learning vendor web sites whose design looks like it came from 1995 when Netscape ruled the land. I’d love to identify the top twenty worst LMS vendor web sites out there – but there are way too many to pick. LMS – this includes sites that show a fresh, modern look.

The growing number of businesses leaving Microsoft Outlook to Internet e-mail is amazing. Innovation drives the market (regardless if it is e-learning or not). Why would I want it?

Azure OpenAI – From Microsoft. The way I see it being used – is along the lines of Answer Engine. Whereas you ask a question, and it gives you an answer. You can do this answer engine with GPT models, Azure, and other LLMs. I’ve seen only a couple of vendors use this. I haven’t seen any vendor yet, going this route.

I recommend going suite here with Learning (LMS) + Content Anytime (content marketplace) + PXP (think Skills platform combined with an LXP).

I recall at ATD this past year, a vendor who was trying to sell people ahead of time their LMS. If you are willing to wait it out, until many of features I would find useful (and in many cases standard among the LMS space), then this is a system to explore. They sell the system two ways. The LMS is solid.
