Teachers Turning to EdTech [INFOGRAPHIC]

Not too long ago, I wrote an article about the social media use in the classroom, how it is gaining in popularity, and whether or not it is ideal for all situations. Not surprisingly, more facts are emerging about education technology (EdTech), and all are indicating its inevitable growth.

The infographic below (original source) shares some pretty intriguing statistics. In particular, I found it quite telling that 3 out of 4 teachers say that ed tech allows them to reinforce and expand on content, motivate students, and accommodate a wider range of learning styles. For years, teachers have been using various strategies to engage all students, playing to their strengths – new technologies in the classroom are now providing additional tools to do so.

What’s more, 66% of teachers now want even MORE technology in the classroom. I find this a bit alarming, as I don’t think more technology equates to the best learning strategy. I have to imagine that it can become easy to rely too heavily upon technology to do the “teaching”… It’s important to keep EdTech a supplement to teaching, not the driving force.

That said, technology in (and out) of the classroom is proving its worth – in particular a classroom learning management system. As referenced in the infographic, AP calculus students received higher scores when they had access to a classroom LMS to further bolster their learning.

Today, setting up a classroom LMS has never been easier – it’s as simple as installing WordPress and LearnDash together. And with our free consulting, we will help you get everything running quickly.
