I thought about this, as you can tell, and said to myself, okay, let’s write a post where the e-learning history and thus learning systems, authoring tools, and alike are intertwined with good and bad ideas. Instead, it was someone from Macromedia Dreamweaver, which is software for building websites.

A product called Macromedia Flash (being used with web sites) became a go to for course development. Macromedia Dreamweaver came out with templates. By mid 2021, more vendors in the learning system space, offer a built-in authoring tool, whether it is included as part of the system, or an additional cost.

Most synchronous e-learning systems also provide methods for the instructor to implement assessments or gather feedback from the students by either receiving messages or polling. The strength of synchronous e-learning systems is that they are a natural extension of traditional instructor led classroom training.
