Just released is the eLearning Guild’s new report, Mobile Learning: The Time Is Now , put together by Clark Quinn, who really knows his stuff on this topic. Before that, the very idea of mobile learning was a bit bizarre. If Clark says the time is now, it probably is. I don’t know, perhaps it is.

You dont know for certain whether your design will work in meeting the underlying learning need. Contrast that with typical self-study e-learning. I once asked the CEO of a major e-learning company how much of their work was maintenance of existing content, thinking that this would be a substantial revenue earner.

Yesterday eLearning Guild announced their Member's Choice Awards for Learning Management Systems (LMS). Award for market share - Education and Government Learning Management Systems - Gold award: Moodle (the Platinum went to Blackboard). Perhaps they use an LMS and a VLE.

I get so much flack from trainers about boring e-learning that nobody wants to do, that sometimes I despair that we’ll ever get it right. I don't know where this appeared from or why but it seems that Microsoft has a rapid e-learning development tool. It does have some interesting features, including a scenario builder, a selection of learning games and Flash import, and exports to SCORM 1.2 although I couldn't get my test material to play in Moodle).

They don't sit on an LMS, where each individual's usage is monitored, but on the intranet, where they can be freely accessed at any time and found using a search engine. Mini-scenarios that allow the user to check whether they can put what they have learned into practice. Self-analysis questionnaires and perhaps quizzes.
