Why do you prefer Text Captions over Shapes as text container? It is much easier to create an object style for a Shape than for a text caption. Shapes are around since version 6. Even the default setting for all feedback messages are set to show shapes instead of text captions. Lot of the text placeholders on content master slides are shapes as well, all for the same reasons.
