was somewhat introduced to the potential of Google Wave during the LearnTrends Conference.  With all that is going on in terms of long tail learning and the business of learning , not to mention social and informal learning, there’s no surprise that there’s a lot of discussion around changes in design and instructional design as well as lots of discussion about new roles in this new world. Long live ADDIE! , One of the really cool things about eLearning Learning and Browse My Stuff is the ability of the system to determine hot topics or trends based on the content that is being brought together in topic hubs .

For Session 4 of today’s LearnTrends event Dave Wilkins , Learn.com , led off on the subject of social learning and the challenge of the concept as opposed to the technologies. Concepts such as wirearchy , the long tail or wisdom of crowds need to be understood and put into our work context before we can really become social learners at work. This means that you might wish to stay away from Web 2.0 terminology when selling it to clients or inside the organization.
