Finally, the third questions focuses in on lessons. What did an experience teach you, and how might you act differently on the basis of this. The point is to look for the lesson. I’d add that as part of learning out loud, sharing the lesson learned can be shared.

What’s the lesson? I used to teach interface design, having had a Ph.D. Many times, as it’s escalated (“yes, it’s plugged in” and “yes, I’ve already tried rebooting it”), I get passed on to another person. And get asked for the same data again. You need your systems synched together.

And their professional development didn’t include support for revising lesson plans. That means, their lessons need to naturally include technology use. That means, their lessons need to naturally include technology use. You don’t teach the tool, except as ancillary to doing things with it! What matters?

Could the choice of resources and activities be scrutinized separately, both for quality and as an opportunity for lessons in becoming a self-capable learner in a discipline? Could we, in fact, either crowd source curricula or support self-definition and approval? Even system-selected? remain as missed opportunities.

Social Networks

And I think it's very interesting to see a formal learning experience using a social network teaching about using a social network for formal learning. Some teachers here use Orkut to teach English or to get in touch with other professionals to share ideas, lesson plans and so on. I don't know about ning or even facebook.
