Next session was an introduction on Meridian’s Virtual Library presented by Meridian’s Mike Mills. Meridian has partnered with companies like MindLeaders, SkillSoft, InfoSense, and other third-party content providers to help clients put together custom learning packages. They talked about how they are using the IDP (Individual Development Plan) module in the Meridian LMS.

SkillSoft recently (about 3 weeks back) announced the launch of inGenius. This social learning layer will integrate with SkillSoft's Book 24X7, a vast repository of technical and IT-related literature that many organizations use as off-the-shelf content to enable their employees. eLearning Technology , while applauding the effort SkillSoft is making to integrate Social Learning, does criticize the fact that they are tying this to SkillSoft and to books as learning resources. Every so often I'll have someone ask for a list of vendors who provide pre-built, plug and play compliance training modules
to put in to courses. The major obstacle for those wanting to move their learning programs online is content. Classroom-based or Instructor Led Training could have been the norm in a company for years, but getting that content in to an online format and making it work is a whole different story. We often have the 'content discussion' with clients, and content is not our area of expertise (ours is the upload, delivery and tracking of said content). Not so smart. MORE >>
