Death of Magazines - Broader Deeper Coverage

In particular, I say that since I've begun to shift my scanning behavior to blogs (scanning is how you stay up-to-speed on a topic) - my rapid fire skimming of blogs via a Skim Dive Skim approach has meant that magazines have mostly become pretty irrelevant to me. They simply are not worth my Limited Attention.

Top eLearning Sites?

After doing this, I realized that eLearn Magazine don’t seem to have that much web traffic. In fact, according to Compete, eLearning Technology (this blog) and Stephen Downes’ Site come in higher that eLearn Magazine. Magazine Masie.com It’s a little bit of a surprise to me some of the traffic numbers. Is this a surprise to you?

FeedYes Now Spamming with Ads

Over a year ago I had set up two FeedYes feeds (see eLearning Technology: RSS Feeds from Static Magazines ) for eLearn Magazine and LearningCircuits. The good news is that eLearn Magazine now has it's own feed at: [link] LearningCircuits doesn't and I've not yet looked for a replacement tool.

Time Spent on Blogging

Blog reading and writing as part of scanning has been a replacement of other activities that I used to do - reading magazines and books. However, I've found that I'm not nearly as willing to read through a magazine, book or newspaper in depth because they don't seem nearly as meaningful or targeted as blog posts.
