Learning professionals have no real difficulty in supporting the formal element of their work, i.e. providing access to courses. The challenge is supporting and encouraging learning as it occurs on a day-to-day basis, well beyond the formal curriculum. The first I want to examine is Saba's new PeopleCloud.

I admit that in general I have been underwhelmed in the past with Saba. So, when I went and checked out Saba Social, Saba’s new social learning platform, I had very low expectations. Over 25 different social media types and Saba Social sticks with the ones everyone always sees – WHY? I was surprised.

Well, Saba called me out in an semi-anonymous (there’s a picture, but I don’t know who of, and there’s no name – in social media?) And you don’t want to manage it so much as support it. It’s the move from being an ‘instructor’ to a mentor, a facilitator. Great stuff.

I support this, only if you have a content marketplace, whether it is online where clients can see (not the end-user) or via the phone or both. Coaching/Mentoring – stays in the hot cycle. Most still, have it one-way, i.e. end-user records themselves sends to coach/mentor, coach/mentor review and respond in text. .
