Conversation Searches

What are Conversation Searches? I often present around my Information Radar tools and methods, particularly my use of an RSS Reader. During those presentations, I'll mention what are sometimes called "vanity searches." These searches look for any mention of your name, company, URLs across blogs and other sites.

Where to Find Old Comic?

However, as part of putting it together, I was searching for a comic that I know I saw years ago where people were making fun of an executive that had his assistant print out his emails and dictated his responses. Or any ideas on searching for such a thing? Does anyone know where I would find such a comic or something like that?

His major points were: Search is not an effective method for performers to find information. One of the points that Frank made that I had to jump on at the session and mention Work Literacy was that even though most people know how to use Google search, they wouldn't find it to be an effective tool.

Work Skills Keeping Up?

I only use it in about 2-3% of my searches. And folks can probably get along without using the filetype, inurl or a myriad of other search operators and techniques. But, the fact that concept workers claim in surveys to be above average in their search skills but they don't incorporate these operators tells me that there's a gap.

All of these represent potential metacognitive tools and methods. It's really that we need to adapt to new methods and tools. I’m overwhelmed just looking at these choices! This is similar to the list of Web 2.0 tools that I often use in my presentations. Life was simple 25 years ago. We knew how to use Interlibrary Loan.
