Some products including Articulate Studio and Storyline use the Microsoft SDK PowerPoint ribbon as their main ribbon. If I was Microsoft, I would say to myself, “Why let these products be the only ones who can do this, when it is our product” And lo and behold, Microsoft jumped into the fray. Microsoft Terms. When developing eLearning, the content is often created in Microsoft PowerPoint first. I'm not going to get into what it takes to create visually compelling PowerPoint presentations (we have a mini course for that ). Note: Microsoft PowerPoint must be installed on your computer before you can import PowerPoint presentations into Captivate. During a standard import process, PowerPoint pptx presentations are first converted to the ppt format and then converted to SWF. Adobe Captivate and PowerPoint. Choose Window > Library.

Fixed a bug where the PowerPoint Add-in would conflict with Microsoft MIX (chef: MS Mix is a neat PPT extension. Fixed: the PPT add-in microphone button would be enabled when no microphone is detected. Techsmith released their Camtasia Studio 8.4.4 update in November (!); guess it had been a while since I loaded their software. I was notified when Camtasia asked if it should check for updates. If that doesn’t happen, you can click Help > Check for updates. Per the Version History page… Added TechSmith in product notifications (chef: what does that mean?!).

Drag n Drop with lots of objects, add the ability to API from Dropbox, Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive right into your SaaS Authoring Tool, allow other API possibilities as well (that make sense). Recently added the ability to publish a storyboard in Microsoft Word. I’ll just say it right now, the industry as a whole isn’t doing much. The new and cool. Trends.

PowerPoint still reigns – If you are a course purist, the idea that PPT should be seen as an authoring tool should make you grumble with disgust. . Strange, since I could find no evidence, no information from multiple research standpoints, that Microsoft pitches it an authoring tool. Yes, you can use it for many different things, and yes, Microsoft has an add-on that turns PPT into something similar to Adobe Presenter. When looking at the state of the authoring tool space, two words come to mind. Bewilderment and Confusion. Building a better mousetrap. Sigh. .

Transitions, Animations, Views – I am fine using it once, but again, new product-new version, so why I am still seeing PowerPoint within this product to such a point, that TAV are exactly the same as in PPT? You also can purchase instructor led courses from Microsoft to Adobe to Hardware and OS, programming, etc. It enables you to upload PPT onto the iPad and present it to people – on the floor, at a location, etc. You can also connect the iPad PPT to a monitor and show it there. – anything you can do with PPT, but it is seen on the iPad. Let’s see Microsoft has only been announcing the coming of Windows 8 for several months, but as usual desktop authoring tools are behind the times. This is nothing new when it comes to waiting until after the end of days to wake up. I am hearing from some vendors that they are having issues with Windows 8 and that Microsoft typically makes it difficult to really make it work. iSpring Pro but it only converts PPT to HTML5. Windows 8 – 20,000 apps (not bad since it launched two months ago), Microsoft executives are reporting that by Jan. 12-21-2012.

Based on my post LMS RFP , I've been asked several times if I knew where you could find samples of Request for Proposals (RFPs) for custom eLearning development, performance support tools, learning content management systems (LCMS), elearning authoring tools , etc. The keys are: (filetype:pdf OR filetype:doc) - only show me actual documents in either of these formats.

As the rapid content authoring market continues to grow, new features and capabilities are equally growing. For the most part, that is a great thing, but as you are about to read, some are not. There are 124 authoring tools in my latest directory, of which 30 are SaaS or a combination of desktop and SaaS – which really what is the point of that? Trend 1. Slow growth of SaaS. Outdated books on WBT – from 1999-2006 that people read and assume this is effective online course building – while it provides some foundation, new approaches, stronger design techniques are showing greater effectiveness then what was available in the past. A few rapid content authoring tool vendors who pitch that taking a Microsoft Word document and changing it to flash is effective learning. Books, presentations, blogs that state follow the PPT mantra. It’s not. story. never thought about being a teacher an educator. Yet, it didn’t happen. Nothing.

I have a real issue with vendors who charge extra – via a license with their “partner or otherwise for a web conferencing – and thus ability to offer webinars, in their solution. It should be free – 100%. No license fee, even though it is integrated into your solution, no extra cost – since it is integrated with your solution.
