If you’ve used Microsoft PowerPoint, then you’re good to go. If I may, I suggest you take a look at Screencast-o-matic [non-affiliate link], a program I use quite regularly. My own personal opinion is that if you are completely new, you should go with Articulate as it tends to be a bit more user friendly than Captivate.
