I apologize if this has been asked before but one of our managers really wants to have us offer the ability to speed up our modules 1.5 to 2 times normal speed. When we have tried to do this using the speed button attached to the captivate navigation bar, the audio cuts out. Is there a way to do this either natively in Captivate or by creating a button using JavaScript where the audio does not cut out?

If you are really talking about video output (mp4) this should not be possible. It is exactly the same when you speed up any movie: audio will be inaudible.
If you talk about output to HTML, not about video output, you have to edit the source file, including editing the duration and synchronization of the audio. The publish again.
