Wiki + SCORM + Add-ins will become more common for easy authoring. Not sure that the emergence of Wiki Course Authoring really translated into adoption. Luckily a few will also add in more community and wiki capabilities. Mzinga is going a different direction focusing on collaboration and social media capabilities.

Additionally, a Wiki or Forum could be used to allow sales reps – who are typically geographically disbursed - to ask questions, share success stories, and collaborate in general. A wiki or blog isn’t the answer for everything, but can be extremely useful in supporting initiatives such as performance support or new product rollouts.

However, there's Communities / Social Networking and LMS Merger announcement around Mzinga. but interestingly the discussion has been more of how to fit SCORM on top of alternative tools such as Wikis rather than the demise of SCORM. There's also more community platforms and other kinds of alternative solutions being discussed.

Wiki- looks nothing like Wikipedia. Mzinga’s OmniSocial product sort of fits the build, but it lacks some components, to what I see as a true system, specifically 100% standalone, since it can also be integrated into a LMS or used in their own LMS. Not everyone can see the micro blog comments, just your “followers&#.

To that end, core collaborative features in the LMS cover the key aspects of social media - collaborative authoring, wiki's, messaging, message boards, interactive web environments, content rating, library, etc. The third track is the approach where the LMS trails another app, as in Mzinga. Will they lose productivity?
