Using Social Network Analysis in Social Business Design
SEPTEMBER 23, 2009
My previous post discussed the Open/Closed culture fallacy in social business design. Overall, as the post's subject indicates, my interest is in showing how social network analysis, applied to the ecosystems of organizations, can assist us in applying social business design in a manner that avoids the fallacy of open/closed business cultures. I contended that leaders of large corporations are typically unable to answer the key strategic questions posed by David Armano in an important post recently.

Thoughts on Social Networking
AUGUST 5, 2007
Going on as I do these days with regard to the value of social networking tools practices and the implications for collaboration in learning, which you may well have picked this up from a number of posts in this blog. I used Moodle reports to produce a student-by-student activity for the Social forums throughout September 06. Well what do you think?
Saffron to denounce the ‘dinosaur LMS’ at LTSF
JUNE 16, 2014
In their place, the seminar will introduce a radical new model for online learning environments, the Learning Experience Network (LEN), which leverages behavioural principles such as framing, peer comparison and the endowment effect. Whilst buzzwords like ‘social learning’ and ‘gamification’ are entering the LMS field as well as elearning field, there is still little understanding of how these approaches can be applied to make learners want to learn.’. How Learning Experience Networks mean we can design the complete experience. Online registration.

I must confess it is now four months since I received an in-depth demonstration from the people at Saba of their People Systems Suites. Why are many of us in businesses surprised that social networking is so popular? His presentation on Social Networking Analysis ( SNA ) created a vortex and black hole in my mind and heart. We know the power of networking and how our networks impact our ability to deliver results. Studies have shown that those with a highly developed network of relationships can get better access to ideas, help, resources, and support from their network. Now, there is really nothing new to Social Networking as a corporate tool (see Rob Cross).

Gary Hamel - The Future of Management - Web 2.0 and Community Driven Management Models
OCTOBER 6, 2007
Hamel's mention of "natural hierarchies" as a most adaptive form of organization reminds me of what we learn in the study of Social Networking Analysis ( SNA ) and Social Capital Asset ( SCA ). In Gary Hamel's most recent book "The Future of Management," Harvard Business School Press, he expresses his view of the future of management. He suggests that in the future, enterprises' organizations will resemble "community-driven" models of Web 2.0. He says "everyone has a voice," which is good for all organizations.
