We managed to let people connect beforehand through a platform (ning ) and afterwards link participants to other networks or initiatives (like the outcome mapping community ). The evaluation was quite positive about the effect of using social media. Without the social network platform, I could have missed them.

In the mean time I have added other social media like this blog (WordPress), Facebook and Twitter. At easygenerator we use a blog, twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook too, we even have our own youtube channel. It links to LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and our blog at WordPress. Easygenerator retweets my tweets and vise versa.
