70-20-10 : No longer applicable to online learning – and here’s why

In just a couple of weeks, I’ll be heading on over to London then unto Berlin to speak at Online Educa Berlin. In January it is at ATD TechKnowledge. I mention the conferences because invariably I will information from either a fellow speaker’s mouth, or a vendor or an attendee, that frankly is inaccurate on some level, when it comes to e-learning, WBT and lately LRS. On the 70-20-10 front, well that is something entirely different and will be presented here in a few fine moments, since it is back, actually never left for some in learning. Maybe not.

Sunday, August 23, 2009 US Dept of Education Report on Online Learning The US Department of Education has just released a new report "Evaluation of Evidence-Based Practices in Online Learning: A Meta-Analysis and Review of Online Learning Studies". Hi Cammy, The research report also says "In many of the studies showing an advantage for online learning, the online and classroom conditions differed in terms of time spent, curriculum and pedagogy."

Three of the sites will be able to attend, but one site who has 39 employees will only have 50% of them viewing from their cubicles, and the other site has only overnight staff, so I have to figure out how I can have them view the seminar… This is learning in 2010. Where web conferencing – training seminars online, better known as webinars – enables you to save costs – travel, food, etc., However, if you want truly free – there is a site online where the number is a true 800 free as in pure free to you and your customers/employee sites call in.

The topic: Emerging Technologies in e-Learning. Developed over 60 e-learning programs. Emerging" = kinds of e-learning that are just starting to show up -- in labs, new company offerings. A big explosion in the last 2 years. This was "e-Learning 1.0". People dont learn in chunks.

Conferences have traditionally provided foundation knowledge for instructional designers, trainers, CLOs, and others in the field. I’ve learned a whale of a lot from these events over the last twenty years.
