PBWiki Image Overlay - Yuck

Tony Karrer

I just took a look at my blog and wow, all of my images that I've been keeping on PBWiki for use on my personal Wiki and for use on my blog have randomly started having an image overlayed on top of my images with their logo. You can see two examples below that I've saved from PBWiki and then uploaded to blogger.

No More Little Sandwiches

Tony Karrer

At the start of the week, I found PBWiki Putting Image Over My Images - at least they were cute little sandwiches. I had spoken to the Founder of PBWiki in the past and had very nice conversations. Sorry, David and the PBWiki team. I assumed that didn't mean any changes as I pretty much only use the basics on PBWiki.

Learning Professionals Leaders

Tony Karrer

This makes using something like google docs or pbwiki as an experiment somewhat difficult for the poor, lonely learning professional. Over 50% or organisations in the UK are still on Internet Explorer 6 and I've come across some that restrict javascript and all cookie. I'm not sure I buy this.

Where are open source learning applications?

Tony Karrer

Having used surveymonkey, blogger, pbwiki and other tools quite a bit - it's even better than open source and even less expensive (open source you need time/dollars to get it up and going). Finally, I'm not really sure that asking about open source right now is as relevant as asking about free software as a service (SaaS) models.

Remote Collaboration

Tony Karrer

I recommend pbWiki as an easy to use Wiki solution. In addition to the real-time editing described above, it also has notifications of changes to people who are collaborating on the document. For some (inexplicable) reason, Google Docs does not. I also heavily use Wikis, especially when the desired result is a set of web pages.

Firewalls and Security in Software as a Service

Tony Karrer

We had no trouble with our PBWiki. Elluminate did not work through several firewalls, so we had to switch to WebEx. The Yahoo Toolbar (for MyWeb ) couldn't be installed on locked desktops. Instead, we should have used Del.icio.us.
