We have worked closely with Plateau for years, and this is a company with $65-70M in revenues which has consistently delivered one of the most scalable, well-engineered, successful learning management platforms in the market. Plateau has been an engineering-centric company with a strong focus on client satisfaction, an open architecture, and a strong professional services strategy.

Many LMS vendors provide portlets, gadgets or widgets that allow for access of learning content (most often meaning courses and courseware) through the corporate portal. The first stage of integrating this content is to simply provide links to individual content items that are housed in the LMS. Many LMS vendors provide this capability. And it can be really important if you want to create web sites outside the LMS that might provide context to a set of courses in the LMS. True, HR at some companies provide “training”, but I have found it is always better to have the two entities as separate departments. Oracle then followed suit by acquiring SuccessFactors who had acquired Plateau in the past.
