I’ll be the first to admit, that I was not a big fan of the previous versions of the Plateau system. After viewing the Plateau TMS, my concerns in one area have been eliminated, in others, not so much. Plateau LMS is a Talent Management System, made up of four modules. Plateau Learning. Plateau Performance.

Acquistions – Someone had an idea

Learn.com; Plateau Learning – It seemed like a good idea Count Olaf. When they went course aggregator, I saw them as a nice alternative to Skillsoft who was off acquiring other course providers including NetG and then down the road, Element K. For the person whose idea was to buy Plateau, a good idea.

Learning System TrailBlazers – Who’s Next?

Plateau Learning – I never understood the love for this system. I will add there was some confusion around Litmos and the whole Plateau thing. SuccessFactors acquired the Plateau LMS (way before SF was acquired by SAP). Knowledge Arcade makes up 50% of their sales (for 2020), and will likely do at least that for 2021.

2010 LMS Products of the Year

Big Dog (Saba, SumTotal, Plateau, Cornerstone OnDemand, Learn.com). Normally, I wouldn’t provide a specific breakout, say Big Dog or Small Dog, but people ask me whom I like or dislike, etc. A really good EE system, offers this and for those who just want the standard LMS, provides these features too, without missing a beat.

History of the LMS

Most of it came, via 3rd party providers, or what we referred to as “boutique shops” – think custom development (fee-based) that someone, company, government, institution, and so forth hired to create a course or courses. ISP (Internet Service Providers) fees were high. Oh, and access wasn’t free.
