Blog – This was on the trial and for a nice product like this – it should be removed for the trial. While that makes sense, what hurts the product is the overkill of information. I know Totara is going to say that the product is built on open source and the folks who are buying it know the technical aspects/Moodle and thus this isn’t an issue. What I Loved.

This product is not for everyone – and I want to repeat that – not for everyone. . 7 learndot – When I saw this product a few months back, I admit I gave them an earful. Open ID is in the product – I love that! Seriously, it is very slick to build courses within the offering and you can also build game based courses – from my understanding you will have eight by the year end – as in eight game based courses that can be built from the product – with the product; you can obviously build your own game courses, but it comes with eight.

So yeah, there are a lot of MOOCs out there, but there is also a lot of people who still buy a certain individual frozen pizza product (which ranks up there with cardboard). And the crowds roared. And the people sang from the hilltops. And a lot of prognosticators wouldn’t stay it. They wouldn’t admit it. That yes, they missed the boat. . They spewed their forecasts, left others to spout “Wow, and yeah,” but failed to see the trends. Miss the big picture. Some of my personal favorites. WRONG: Talent/PM in an LMS and its subsets, has already hit its peak.

Usually I list the others first, then the top tool or top product at the bottom to build excitement. Oh, and for those folks wondering whether I am getting any money from these listings of products, the answer is a huge NO. Anyway, he launched this product and it really is very cool. As you can surmise it enables you to create demos of your product, content, etc. But, editing, adding your signature, outputting to Word, Excel, PowerPoint (and I can tell you, it actually looks quite good and not cruddy which you see in other PDF push to Word products).

The people who build some of these products, well… And now the AWARDS. It’s going to be a slugfest. Slugging it out? Slugfantastic! Yes, I made up that word, but go with it. I don’t know about you, but while I love giving out awards to systems, authoring tools and e-learning tools that deserve it, rarely do you hear about platforms that are slugs. . Equally, where the industry loves jargon, buzz words and the latest whatever, some deserve to be in the slug folder. Maybe they need a squish or perhaps just a little push with a stick to go faster. NEO LMS is similar to Matrix, they say they are separate companies and yes, that is true, but the product is more than similar, I smell doppelganger here – reminds me how many people you run into that are duplicates of someone you know (or is it just me, that see’s it?). If you haven’t heard, and most people have not, there is a product out there called Blippar. One product, Jaspersoft 6.1 It would be more likely that someone would use a drone for learning (that would be cool, just to see), than mass produce a learning product with biometrics and RFID (although I do use that technology). Say out loud learning technology and the two words just seem not to go together. Learning? You mean the classroom? The same approach to learning since humans went to school? Technology? What might work in the classroom fails online and vice versa.

Quite confident ATD will disagree with me on the expo slow poke traffic but I am reporting only what the vendors I talked to – and they were a nice random selection of various products and offerings. Vendor Report Products. The best way to really get a sense is look at Rehearsal only from the approach and not the product itself. . Rehearsal is launching an app to use with their product, iOS and not on/off synch – where they see no value in doing so.

If I am an authoring tool vendor, I would explore what is happening in the authoring tool market, what my product looks like, how I can make it better for my target audience and what do I see or others I trust see the e-learning space is heading. . Two problems that I see with PPT being used as an authoring tool is that to make it engaging, fun and interactive you have to use what the product includes, and those templates are a mixed bag. . is overwhelming, unless they have used a product in the past like Photoshop that uses layers. There is ZERO reason that authoring tool vendors (as a whole) are ignoring this and then tell people are product enables you build courses, as though it is enough. For months I’ve been telling folks that if they want to learn how to build outstanding courses, they should surf deep into the search engines, locate the information and begin their learning experience.
