The name alone “Adobe” is a strong brand, highly recognized in the tech industry.  If you are a fan of Adobe products and love Captivate the authoring tool or Connect, then having the LMS wouldn’t be out of the question. If you do not have those Adobe e-learning offerings, but have Adobe products, again, it is not out of the realm to see you purchasing the solution.

So yeah, there are a lot of MOOCs out there, but there is also a lot of people  who still buy a certain individual frozen pizza product (which ranks up there with cardboard).  And the crowds roared.  And the people sang from the hilltops. And a lot of prognosticators wouldn’t stay it.  They wouldn’t admit it. That yes, they missed the boat.  . They spewed their forecasts, left others to spout “Wow, and yeah,” but failed to see the trends. Miss the big picture. Some of my personal favorites. WRONG:  Talent/PM in an LMS and its subsets, has already hit its peak.

Yes it will be a splash, it’s Workday after all, but their product IMO is targeting some certain folks i.e. Cornerstone, SuccessFactors, SumTotal by Skillsoft and to a lesser degree Saba. Lately there have been quite a few articles relating to where the LMS is heading, what is the future of the LMS market and so forth. All interesting reads, but do they really get to the heart of the matter, which is how will it affect you the buyer and what advantages are available for the supplier (i.e. vendor)? Forecast #1. There is ZERO reason that authoring tool vendors (as a whole) are ignoring this and then tell people are product enables you build courses, as though it is enough. For months I’ve been telling folks that if they want to learn how to build outstanding courses, they should surf deep into the search engines, locate the information and begin their learning experience. I was wrong. Now before you go “WHAT?”, ”, let me tell you why.  Outdated and seriously who is using this? have yet to meet an educator who uses Gagne.  ADDIE?  Theory loaded garbage? Blog – This was on the trial and for a nice product like this – it should be removed for the trial.  It is sooo boring. While that makes sense, what hurts the product is the overkill of information. know Totara is going to say that the product is built on open source and the folks who are buying it know the technical aspects/Moodle and thus this isn’t an issue.

This product is not for everyone – and I want to repeat that – not for everyone. . har har, oh I’m on fire today. #7 learndot –  When I saw this product a few months back, I admit I gave them an earful. Open ID is in the product – I love that! Lots to get do, so little time or space for that matter. What I am seeing. Less statistics.  Now it is as though we have come full circle but the exception being nicer graphics and UIs. zzzz, oh sorry about that. I was drooling on my keyboard. As a Result. Usually I list the others first, then the top tool or top product at the bottom to build excitement. Okay, all set.  Oh, and for those folks wondering whether I am getting any money from these listings of products, the answer is a huge NO.  NO affiliate money, no nothing.  As with anything I do, always independent and fair. Oracle Taleo – Seriously, either overhaul this thing or dump it and torch it.   I feel bad for the folks who were learn.com, then thought Taleo would improve it, then Oracle.   And BTW, nearly every LMS can interface with Oracle products. NEO LMS is similar to Matrix, they say they are separate companies and yes, that is true, but the product is more than similar, I smell doppelganger here – reminds me how many people you run into that are duplicates of someone you know (or is it just me, that see’s it?). Not everyone gets in. Sorry, that’s marketing.

The user interface is slick and feature wise the product has a lot to offer. I see them in the mid size market, 1,000-10,000 users, but again can easily go 10,000 and more users – so don’t let that be a deal breaker if you are checking them out.  Back for another installment of the rankings. If I am an authoring tool vendor, I would explore what is happening in the authoring tool market, what my product looks like, how I can make it better for my target audience and what do I see or others I trust see the e-learning space is heading. . Two problems that I see with PPT being used as an authoring tool is that to make it engaging, fun and interactive you have to use what the product includes, and those templates are a mixed bag.  . If you are doing the course link – how about making your product compatible with some of the apps in Zapier or at least Gmail?

First off, you can’t judge a web site by the product, because well, the web site stinks.  Three.  It is the magic number.  Well, actually, probably it isn’t, but let’s roll with it. As with anything that involves rankings there will be conjecture on this or whether it really belongs with that. Most of all, folks will wonder why there system isn’t in my top three.  Or they will wonder what they can do it be in the top three of whatever the topic happens to be. If you haven’t heard, and most people have not, there is a product out there called Blippar.  One product, Jaspersoft 6.1 is intriguing.  But for mass usage in some ways, just doesn’t seem on task.  It would be more likely that someone would use a drone for learning (that would be cool, just to see), than mass produce a learning product with biometrics and RFID (although I do use that technology). Say out loud learning technology and the two words just seem not to go together. Learning? You mean the classroom?  Technology?  Some clearly will, others, maybe not.

wish many products in the e-learning market had such a fan base, oh wait, Articulate does, but on the LMS side of the house, not really.  I mean people either really love their system, dislike it and stick with it, or dislike it and search out another platform, but Moodle has fanatics (and I mean no disrespect to that). Additional fees can spring up – some people use APIs from other products, including those that are fee based.  If you have thousands of registrants, you might need to have a company oversee that to get them into your platform. Not a fan of it. The heartache.

The KV Studio is the product to look at.  What I love is their Exchange marketplace which lists an extensive list of partners that can integrate, support or work with their product. Flashback. Seriously though, as a result of the broken bones in my foot and use of such scooter, I did not attend as many sessions as I wanted, but was able to stop by and take a deeper dive at many products. Best Product at DevLearn 2014. By far the coolest product at this year’s show.  However, the rest of the product and all the other stuff listed above will work in any browser.

Well, it is a fun product to create a course. This product achieves makes it happen, especially with a slick UI. Nothing like getting your blood boil when you see this ranking and can’t understand why the product is not number one. Feature wise the product has quite a bit, but my biggest gripe with Adobe is that this product always seems to be behind its top competitors.
