Mobile is Collaborative Learning and support at work can be provided through one's network of professional colleagues, both internal and external to the workplace. Instead, it demands more effective information design, to provide quick and searchable access to content. And of course, mobile devices can also be used for voice communication. Only 3D simulations come close to this. | THE LEARNING CIRCUITS BLOG MARCH 6, 2012 Using Twitter as a Professional Development Tool find that Twitter has the audience and usage that best provides professional development support for those in our field. They expose us to new ideas and ways of thinking, they provide us with more targeted and qualified results than a search engine query, and they enable us to connect and share with peers and experts. The digital age has provided learning professionals with an amazing opportunity via personal learning networks; and as with most opportunities, this one comes with a risk. Immediately one word came to mind: Twitter. recall those early years well. | | | | | | | THE LEARNING CIRCUITS BLOG MARCH 20, 2012 Curation: A Core Competency for Learning Professionals This week we're going to explore filtering further, and explain how learning professionals will provide filtering services on an increasing basis. Interactions like water-cooler conversations, over-the-cubicle requests for assistance, and on-the-job coaching provide the majority of performance support, but usually happens in a vacuum, shared only between the participants that are present. may not feel the need to seek out content as much if there is someone that is already providing pre-filtered content relevant to my needs. Levels Games do a great job of providing personalized experiences. | THE LEARNING CIRCUITS BLOG FEBRUARY 5, 2012 10 Ways to Bring A Conference Back to Work It provides a way for people to attend a conference virtually, to catch up on missed sessions and to continue to learn after the event ends. Most vendors provide in-person or virtual demonstrations. When it comes to conferences, a better slogan would be, "What happens in Vegas should NOT stay in Vegas." Don't let them stay in Vegas! Share them when you get back. Any other ideas? | | | | | | | | | -

THE LEARNING CIRCUITS BLOG | WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2011 What Do We Mean When We Say HTML5? Even on desktop and laptop browsers, the Flash plug-in can be problematic…despite its great service over the last ten years providing the ability to rich multimedia experiences over the web. No doubt you’ve heard at least a whisper about HTML5 over the last year. It’s a Flash-killer. It’s the only way to get multimedia on mobile devices. It’s not going to be ready for use until 2022. It’s going to save the world. There’s a lot of hype. As of January 2011, it’s considered a “living standard,” and browsers are continuing to change as the spec is revised. Sit this one out? THE LEARNING CIRCUITS BLOG | MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2009 Presenting the Value of Social Media for Learning Which provides us this month's big question: Presenting the Value of Social Media for Learning? Let me provide some flavor for this question straight from someone who asked me about this: My coworkers are Baby Boomers and Traditionals. I've received various forms of the same question from different people over the past few years. The basic question is: How do I communicate the value of social media as a learning tool to my organization? They either haven't opened their mind to the idea or really care. In essence, if it is not classroom, they are really not interested in it. MORE >> - Measuring Learning: The Theory of Change

Throughout this post I’ll use an example from a training program I worked with earlier in my career to illustrate how the measurement models can be put to work in training. measurement MORE >> -
THE LEARNING CIRCUITS BLOG | THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2011 Why is a Mobile Learning Strategy Important? This approach helps you bring mobile in where it will provide the biggest impact. With mobile learning getting a lot of interest recently (roughly 50% of businesses surveyed say they have plans to implement some form of mobile learning in the foreseeable future), it’s becoming clear that many companies don’t have a plan to successfully create a sustainable, robust mobile learning strategy. This is evidenced by the quick jump from talking about goals and roadmaps to the proverbial “We need an app for that!” metered, reusable framework is far more useful than a scattershot approach.
