PBS report on MOOCs with Spencer Michaels. Balanced report. The reporter says getting colleges to accept online learning for credit is a big problem. 11 minutes. Coursea, Udacity, edX, Kahn Academy. Where are the peers? Meeting on their own in a local bar. I disagree.

A few quick impressions from my initial skim of Learning while Working , a summary report on eight years of European research grants and studies of informal learning in the workplace: This is an amazingly Euro-centric report. This report fails to address the attitudes, motivation, desires, and aspirations of workers.

Would you recommend your L&D department?

If a line of business reported such shoddy scores, red flags would arise and heads would roll. Instead of being buried in quarterly reports read by few, the Net Promoter Score can become a management tool. Only 15% thought L&D effective at influencing talent strategy. A corporate SWAT team would tear into the problem.
