Captivate 8 and 9 updates (release date 13 June, 2017) fix some vulnerabilities when reporting quiz results to a server.

In this update, we have sanitized the php files that you need for internal server reporting.

For more information, read the security bulletin.

Adobe recommends users of Captivate 8 and 9 to apply the fix using the instructions below:
Backup the php files:

  1. Browse to the Captivate folder – the default location is %ProgramFiles%\Adobe\Captivate\Templates\Publish
  2. Rename the files internalserverread.php and internalServerReporting.php to internalserverread.old and internalServerReporting.old respectively.

Install the update:

  1. Download the APSB17-19.zip file from the APSB17-19.
  2. Move the php files from the extracted location to %ProgramFiles%\Adobe\Adobe\Captivate\Templates\Publish
  3. Restart Captivate.

For more information, see Report quiz results to an internal server.

How can I apply these updates on a Mac? I have only found the Windows instructions. Thank you!

Amy,

The instructions for Mac are pretty much the same as Windows.

The php files are in Applications/Adobe Captivate /Templates/Publish

Download the updated php files from the location, and unzip the folder. Then replace the old files with the new set of files, as mentioned above.

Restart Captivate.

Thanks,
Saurav

After updating, when I click Help > Updates in Adobe Captivate 9 (64-bit on Windows 7), I get the error: Update Failed, !Updates could not be applied. You are already running the Adobe Application Manager… If problems persist, please contact Customer Support. Yet there is no customer support for Captivate, not that I can find.

How can I resolve this problem so I am able to get future updates?

I am not seeing all of my results when I run the quiz analyzer. I have tried both saving it and running it online. Am I missing a setting somewhere? Thanks!

I have followed all of the steps regarding the analyzer and fix. I am receiving results but they are not populating the report timely. I have had people submit results yesterday and they are still not appearing in the report. The analyzer has been closed and reopened and results regenerated.

Paul,
Excellent video, as usual.

Just an FYI to all users, this fix is also applicable to Captivate versions 6 and 7 as well.

Thanks,
Saurav
