Hacked: A Descent into the Malware Inferno

However, a few of the sites gave me 500 Server Errors or would not let me log in. When I try to update a couple of others, I receive Server errors. Half an hour after that, Sucuri was cleaning malware out of the sites and locating obsolete installations of WordPress on my site. The Google alert notices were still up. Heaven only knows.

Anatomy of an ISP meltdown

If your site is suddenly not loading or can’t connect to the database, it’s most likely related. We’re looking into this and will be posting updates as soon as available.

You had to log on to this very machine, the one in the photo, this server, because it ran the entire web. That’s a short time to take over the world. Twenty years ago, pre-browser, I remember logging onto the web, not quite sure why. Why was I logging in on some advanced physics site in western Switzerland?
