Last week I had the pleasure of presenting a somewhat loose and rapid-fire version of our workshop on developing a social learning strategy as part of 2010 edition of the Irish Learning Showcase. Companies are not likely to use Facebook, they ARE using Newsgator or Saba or Sharepoint or one of many others. The line-up was impressive.

Since 2001, Microsoft has sold well over 100 million licenses  of SharePoint generating more than $1 billion / year in revenue. Enter SharePoint 2010, due to release in Q2 of 2010. SharePoint 2010 has better 2.0 Competentum – not as integrated into SharePoint as I would like to see. to a collaboration platform itself.
In preparation, we came up with a bunch of things that one would need to know when creating a social learning strategy.  Checklist of Social Learning Strategies. Will you use a unified suite that offers core social media applications, such as SharePoint or Jive? What is your launch strategy to drive participation?
If you’ve been reading the posts here at aLearning about LMSes, you might have notived that one of the systems I haven’t discussed yet is Sharepoint. So when I discovered that our server upgrade included use of Sharepoint “for free&# I was thrilled. There was no added value in using Sharepoint for the staff.

My plan is to hopefully secure a Sharepoint subweb and use podcasts and blogs as a means of interacting with our employees in AU.
