Developing Simulations for End-user ERP training Using Articulate Storyline

CommLab India

Usually in a classroom setting, trainers demonstrate how to use the software and how it works. This risk-free or test environment can be created using simulations. Using simulations, you can show the step-by-step process of the ERP system and allow the learner practice in a safe, interactive environment as if they were in a live ERP environment.

Six Sizzling Benefits of Simulations in ERP End-User Training

CommLab India

Well, ‘Training Simulations’ can be your answer. Wikipedia says a Simulation is the imitation of the operation of a real-world process or system over time. Simulations can be used in many contexts. When they are used for training, learning and development, they called learning or training simulations. Training simulations are that flexible.

Five Secret Mantras to Create Successful Online Simulations

Creating a Software Simulation or Screen Recording in Articulate Storyline

Learning Dojo

You can create some pretty interactive and engaging content for any type of training pretty easily but some forget it can also do screen recordings and software simulations. First, just so we are all on the same page let’s break down the difference of a software simulation and a screen recording for all you newbies out there. The learner just simply watches.

Making a Game Out of Software Simulations

Integrated Learnings

I recently worked on a lengthy course that included a lot of software training. The intent of the training was not only to introduce learners to the software, but also to build fluency with several key tasks. To make it fun, we combined a handful of simulations into a web-based game. The game starts with a playful, fictional backstory, which provides a reason for needing to complete the selected tasks in the software quickly and accurately. By Shelley A. Gable. Of course, building fluency requires practice. Here are some of the elements we designed into the game….

Update on Software Simulations Tools

Tony Karrer

I'm never sure what updates people will see, but I wanted to alert people that I've made a small update to my page: Software Simulation eLearning (w/ links to Tools) The update primarily added some data from the eLearningGuilds Research at the bottom of the page - eLearning Tools Satisfaction. This shows satisfaction among tools that fall into categories related to software simulation: screen capture, electronic performance support (EPSS) and simulation.

eLearning: It's Time for Some Reflection

Rapid eLearning Through Software Simulations And Screencasts

Upside Learning

Previously when I discussed freeform and template-based rapid content authoring tools, I kept software simulation tools aside. The main reason was that such simulation tools are not always used for developing just any type of learning but focused on training content creation for a specific software application or system. The software simulation in turn, can be divided into screen capturing tools and interactive simulation development tools. However, it’s matter of debate that whether software simulations can be considered as part of EPSS.

Adobe Captivate: Use Smart Shapes Instead of Text Captions

I Came, I Saw, I Learned

As it stands, standard text captions are used whenever you record a software simulation or enable feedback captions for interactive objects (you can use Hint, Success, and Failure captions for Click Boxes, Buttons, and Text Entry Boxes).   When you record your next Software Simulation, the standard Text Captions will automatically be replaced with Smart Shapes.

Adobe Captivate: Record Simulations Using Smart Shapes Instead of Text Captions

I Came, I Saw, I Learned

While there is much to love about Smart Shapes, a perceived downside to Smart Shapes is that you can't use them to automatically get captions when recording a Software Simulation. The next time you record a Software Simulation, the project will automatically contain Smart Shapes instead of Text Captions. by Kevin Siegel        Text Captions have been available in Adobe Captivate since before Captivate was Captivate (think RoboDemo). eLearning: When Should You Record Your Voiceover Audio?

I Came, I Saw, I Learned

If you're creating a software demonstration or interactive simulation, should the audio be recorded while you're recording the screen actions?   So what about interactive software simulations or soft-skills learning? Since simulations or soft skills lessons are typically produced slide-by-slide (in Captivate, Storyline, PowerPoint, or Presenter), I think it's best to record or import the audio directly onto the slide once the slide is done. I've been creating eLearning for years (and years and years). wait for it.  more informal.

E-training Modules on Software Applications Using Articulate Storyline

CommLab India

How can you impart effective training on using software applications? You can go in for simulations of the software. Software training managers often look for a perfect screen recording, the feasibility to create a simulated environment, and expect to check learners’ understanding in a test environment. A simulation is the replication of a real environment.

3 Rapid E-learning Development Tools

For years, Adobe Flash was the uncrowned king of e-learning development software. Without making it too complicated, I’ll only focus on their capabilities such as support for simulations , animations , audio/video , and mobile support. Audio/Video editing: Although Storyline allows you to record and edit both audio and video, you can only do so while creating a simulation.

Mobile Device Simulators

E-learning Uncovered

We recently researched that question, seeking mobile software simulators that would let us view and interact with web-based training content right on our computers. For our research, we were looking for a simulator that would help us test a Storyline course on an iPad. The next most common response was, “Download the Xcodes development software from Apple on your Mac and use that for your testing.” This tool is a commercial iOS simulator designed to test the iPad and iPhone browsing experience on your PC. I love the new course you designed. Use an iPad.”
