July 2010 – the US time spent online – when it changed to open architecture where everyone is a publisher – that’s where Facebook usage starting far outstripping all the other sites. Well-curated site tells a story. US is only #6 on the list of countries and numbers of internet users. Nigeria is #3. Iran is #5. Context is key.

Over at the Kineo site, there's a nice rundown of some of the key points in the US Dept of Education report. "In light of this small corpus, caution is required in generalizing to the K–12 population because the results are derived for the most part from studies in other settings (e.g., medical training, higher education)."

6 months ago started working with Kineo to take new approach to subscription site. Kronos had a vast library of elearning content to help customers betters use products. A long list of courses that the user had to identify what was relevant learning. Decided to stay with Moodle.

We’ve integrated Flash animations into Moodle home pages and replicated clients’ existing web sites. Kineo has done some really fabulous interfaces that look slick, modern and way beyond what you might think possible. Take some vanilla pudding, add raisins or rainbow sprinkles or a caramel swirl. I think the time for open source is now.

Luckily, the Rubik’s Cube web site has an absolutely amazing job aid. So on this famous Saturday night of which I speak, I stumbled upon a classic Rubik’s Cube – the 3x3 – which is apparently the world’s best selling toy. And I fiddled with it. And I realized I had no friggin’ clue what to do with it or how. It felt so good.

Another application I tried through another site I had problems with too, so it could be because Im at work trying stuff out. Im not sure if it does much for a site with minimal traffic.

Karl sites statistics that "Seventy percent of the players of the social interaction game The Sims are women under twenty-five," and that the number one game from May 2004-July 2006 was Princess Fashion Boutique. Self-direct learning experience == a standard course prepared and available on a web site. On the web = hybrid -- take content from multiple sites and put them into one. Dont need to do it yourself -- can pull free info and put it into your site and add things to it. Just like a vending machine, you do it by yourself.
