Product Review – Percipio by Skillsoft

One of these platforms is Percipio by Skillsoft. If you select “Video” content than the mini chapters you select from will start with an intro screen from Skillsoft, rather than jumping right into the content. What though became confusion was again getting back to the nomenclature of how Skillsoft defines a course.

Skillsoft buying SumTotal – My Take

Like many of you, I was surprised to find out that Skillsoft is in the process of acquiring SumTotal. The reason for the acquisition at least from a press release and information on the purchase (and available for viewing on the Skillsoft site), screams of HCM (Human Capital Management). Getting back to Skillsoft and SumTotal.

Acquistions – Someone had an idea

The initial person who thought buying SumTotal was a great idea (initially it was) and then dumped it for a fortune to Skillsoft (another great idea), which in turn was someone at Skillsoft thinking this was a great idea, which turned out to be false and was a factor in Skillsoft going into bankruptcy due to the albatross known as SumTotal.

Skillsoft – Dominated the course/content marketplace. Skillsoft). Say what you want, but I still believe the SumTotal buy was a huge reason for the financial woes of Skillsoft, which lead to them entering then exiting Bankruptcy court, followed thereafter by acquisition from a SPAC. NetG, Element K, being just two.

I mean yes you can buy Percipio and yes you can buy Skillsoft content and get Percipio, but if you go to the marketplace of a vendor and see Skillsoft, is it really Percipio? You be the judge. Bottom Line. In the eighties, us Gen Xers knew we were onto something.

Courseware LMSs – Good or bad for the industry?

Maybe you purchased it via Open Sesame, or Skillsoft. Skillsoft – The behemoth of the courses/content space. A key factor is that Skillsoft has acquired many course providers in the past and with that have good and bad mixed together. Skillsoft I find is very flexible in this regard (as a whole). Course rating: B.
