I created this 16 minute social learning primer (podcast) to address some of the frequently asked questions and concerns about social learning, and to share some of my insights and suggestions gained from my experience helping client organizations with their social learning agendas. hope you find this primer useful.
I wanted to share what one large organization has learnt about the need to employ “change management&# activities and good GUI principles in order to increase adoption rates of a social network service. The social network user experience is clearly not good enough.  How many others have hit the same wall?

Social Networking: Social Networking is increasingly prevalent in children's lives. Tween's playing a video game. Most of them do on a regular basis. In 2010, when M2 Research asked a similar question, they found 91 percent of boys and 93 percent of girls aged 8-11 are playing games online on a regular basis.

Ning is a service that allows you to create online social networks.  Last we at  Instructional Designers Community of India wanted to create an online social network for the community. The software industry is loaded with help manuals and tutorials.

I’ve heard of SNAPP before – &# software tool that allows users to visualize the network of interactions resulting from discussion forum posts and replies&# – but decided to play around with it today. The analysis isn’t very comprehensive, but does provide frequency of posts and social network structure.

I have been giving a “Social Media/Networking 101″ class here at NASA as an educational and evangelical tool.  Social Media and Social NetworkingSocial Media and Social Networking, I point out, is the focus:  the first focuses on content, the second the people and the third, networking.
I'm placing it here as a matter of record and to note that social networking tools are clearly important to accelerating the (effective) learning process. We are social animals by nature, so any technology that allows us to connect more efficiently and effectively with others will flourish
Our office has been receiving numerous requests to help incorporate social media tools into a variety of communication and education projects. Our clients want help creating blogs, wikis, collaborative workspaces, and social networks. You can’t mandate that your audience “be social.”. Are they toes-. Or something in-.
Are social media and social networks destined to change life behind the firewall ? Avoid the temptation to implement social software tools simply for their own sake. Finally, develop a strategy to leverage a social software platform to enhance that interaction and collaboration. Or just collosal time sinks? David.
