Some organizations do evaluate at all four of Kirkpatrick’s levels, and the Success Case Method is another good strategy for evaluating training effectiveness. I think using social media and contributing to the conversation (not just lurking) is really valuable. Those tools are generally underutilized though. New Trends.

Julie Dirksen: Strategies for Supporting Complex Skill Development. In their model, a MOOC is a time-bound online program that contains highly contextualized spaced, micro, and social learning. I think you could do this same model with moderated social, spaced learning and call it “blended” or a “journey.”
