Take a look at the companies: Saba (28) GeoLearning (17) SumTotal (22) Meridian (9) Cornerstone (19) You notice the counts are out of order (not descending). The keywords on left side are changed to keywords which are more closely associated with that term. Seems so long ago. :) How about 2005 ?

I will be doing a lot of technology training courses so software simulations are very important. Captivate does a very good job of creating software simulations. Articulate and Lectora do not do simulations. I ended up selecting three of these products. The last content authoring tool I choose was Captivate.

The next generation of authoring tools included a handful of really serious players, notably Authorware (now with Adobe) and Toolbook (now with SumTotal), both still going although not so strongly. Of course these all came and went as PCs gradually dominated the market for hardware and Windows took hold.
