Keyboard and mouse sounds during recording

What is the recommended suggestion to remove any background noises created by keyboard and/or mouse during a recording?

Option 1: I would like to just buy hardware that is silent, there is plenty of choices out there.

Option 2: My supervisor is inquiring about recording the visual part and the audio part independently and put them together after.

I have not done the latter of the two and feel that is much more work than needed?

Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated as I am new to using this software.

Thank You

A good headset will avoid the problems with a standalone microphon. I used a Plantronics Blackwire headset in this interactive video, which is based on a Video Demo:

Custom Play/Pause button

Caution; do not use two different files because you would have synchronization issues. You need to have a draft audio file captured at the same time as the Video Demo, but can replace it later on by a better version. Or, like I did for the video mentioned above, use the Edit with functionality on the audio clips in the Library.  I used Audition to take out some background noise, to  normalize -6dB and to add a effect so that all have same loudness  More is possible but it was sufficient in this case. The headset has not much problems with ‘P’ and ‘S” if I keep about one hand distance to my mout.

Maybe you didn’t see my answer yet. If you were able to solve the issues, please can you report back? I am asking this for the sake of other users in the community.

Good morning, did not see this reply until just now actually, not sure how to be sure my email gets an update when a response occurs.

I am responding to your other email now with the question, thank you very much for the follow up.

Some essential details are missing in your question, in order to offer you an appropriate answer. Are you talking about recording Software simulations or about Video Demo? Which version are you using?

For audio I do use either a good quality headset (will avoid taking up background noises) or a very good microphon.  If you insiste on recording audio at the same time as the visual use the headset or a microphon that has a constant distance to your mouth (like those used by actors). If you  reciord audio separately (my choice in most cases) you can use any good microphon, eventually Keyboard tapping sounds or mouse clicks can be taken out by Captivare settings, but need an answer on my first question.

I am talking about a video demo. I have done a few so far now and in the interest of time I write out my script first, practice to be sure I am comfortable and then run through the video demo and script all at the same time.

I felt that would be the best use of time. However, the clicking of the mouse (not the system sound) and the clicks of the keys are being captured even the slightest amount in the recording.

I am using a Blue Snowball microphone which I have noticed also causes somewhat of a “tinny” sound for the voice.

I’m using microphons of better quality. You should try to build or buy a box to put the snowball in which insulates the background noise. Problem is to keep the same distance of your mouth to the micro if you are recording the audio at the same time as the visual capture. I tend to do a draft during that, and replace it by better quality later on. Takes more time, but bad audio can  kill the most engaging video. Sorry, I am a musician as well.

Thank you very much for your quick reply. It sounds like I am going to try and capture the audio with a headset. In addition, I will learn how to capture the audio and video as two separate files then combine. Although time needed will take longer I agree with your point of quality.

Thanks again
