Autism Education Trust develops Virtual Learning Environment with Learning Pool’s platform

The Autism Education Trust (AET) will implement Learning Pool’s platform to create its first virtual learning environment for 5,000 teaching professionals.

The AET is a not-for-profit program led by national autism charities, the National Autistic Society and Ambitious about Autism. Established and supported by the Department for Education, the AET promotes and supports partnerships throughout the education system to improve educational access, experience and outcomes for children and young people with autism.

Using Learning Pool’s platform, the AET will launch a single course utilizing e-learning, webinars, blogs, podcasts and videos to move its training from a traditional classroom-based model to a virtual learning environment.

With more than 100 training hubs of local authorities, schools and multi-academy trusts regionally, the trust was drawn to Learning Pool to create its first virtual learning environment because of its social learning capabilities, enabling it to support its communities of practices with ease.

Aiming to increase its impact and reach with the virtual learning environment, the AET will use Learning Pool’s wide range of functionalities, enabling learners to purchase the course themselves through its website. The AET has also taken a license to Learning Pool’s Adapt Builder to author its own content, creating courses and resources for the virtual learning environment that follow the trust’s brand guidelines and extensive audience needs.

Sarah Broadhurst, Director of the Autism Education Trust, said: “We are delighted to be able to bring our award-winning professional development program to a wider audience with this virtual learning environment. Online learning has great potential and we are very eager to reach more professionals and enable them to support autistic children and young people all over the world.

The Autism Education Trust’s new module is currently only available abroad. British professionals can access the organization’s UK training program here.
