Part of the issue is that Techsmith, isn’t great at pushing it beyond their web site, and the other issue is folks are unaware. The moment I saw what it could do, I’m thinking, why isn’t everyone tapping this.

10: TechSmith Camtasia Studio – I’ve debated numerous times if a product that is more of a screen recorder with added feature sets deserves to be in an authoring tool set. You want that – there are plenty of places out there that offer it. You will never find it here.

Why let those guys at TechSmith have all the fun and money? . – On the rise and the best one I have seen is in “beta” – it is Articulate’s Replay, which will be part of Studio 13 (still in beta stage). When you can do it too and better.

Techsmith – Camtasia 8. Articulate has told me that they have an issue with Windows 8 for both Storyline and Studio, but are working on fixing it. At least they are doing something. Desktop authoring tool vendors who realized this thing was fast approaching are: Articulate. dominKnow Claro.

Techsmith Camtasia. I equally hate the profiles piece where the defaults on items such as capture region are nonsensical. I had to go into the profile to include a hotkey that made sense. . Best Video capture, editing tool for online learning. What it is missing is the conversion to SCORM 1.2,

Take Techsmith’s latest version of Camtasia. Again, this makes the most sense, and again there are products out there that do it (not in the e-learning space). Best of all, they are cheap to buy. So, why isn’t this an important feature set, since a lot of people have flash tutorials and flash video files?

Why allow TechSmith or someone else to have the market for screen capture/recording when you can have one that does at least the same thing, if not more. You would think this has always been a standard with authoring tool products – but you would be wrong. Thankfully that is also changing.
