Quickie Version of Instructional Design. Look for a chapter on gamification in the next version of “Theories and Models.” I refer to these over and over again. Classic Academic Books in the Field. This is a total classic but buy it used. Great References of Lots of ID Information. Non-Book Resources.

New Version of Enterprisewide Solutions. The proof is in their upgrades and new versions. VenueGen is working on an iPad-enabled version of their virtual world client. Next, corporations have not abandoned virtual worlds. ProtonMedia and ProtoSphere are being used extensively by forward thining organizations.

If the paper mock up is boring or not fun to play, any electronic version of the ILE you want to create is not going to fun or the classroom version won’t be fun. There is nothing as telling as trying to play a paper-based version of an ILE. With easy-to-use software for prototyping, this step is really tempting to skip.

I was nervous for the talk, I had gone through a write up of the script, Skype rehearsal and several version of the talk. Preparing for the TEDx talk, I leveraged some stories and ideas I had been thinking about for some time. So, I had some nerves going into it. The TEDx talk was a great growth experience for me and a fun opportunity.

They have a nice Getting Started with Thinking Worlds section on their web site with videos and a basic introduction. This is a good place to get started. Another free to get started 3D software is Unity 3D.

Here are a couple of parody videos designed to introduce a campus to a new version of the Blackboard LMS. To me, the clever idea of making an updgrade to a new version of a software an exciting venture worthy of some humor is a good thing. They borrow from the Old Spice meme which has taken the web and TV by storm.

My friends over at Proton Media continue to do great things in the 3D space, just recently they announced the latest version of ProtoSphere, the first enterprise-ready 3D virtual collaboration environment optimized for touch-enabled devices like iPad, Microsoft Surface Pro, and even Perceptive Pixel.

Another non-electronic version of pattern matching is Connect Four where a player attempts to connect for checker pieces on a vertical game board. When a solid line is accomplished, the line disappears and the pieces move closer to the bottom. The goal is to avoid the top of the game from overflowing with pieces.

They also showed a mobile version of their solution. The first team is B-A-C-K Designs. Their solution used Thinking Worlds as a 3D solution to help teach the hospital staff how to prevent surgical fires. Ana Delgadillo, Bryan Sidwar, Cecil Niger-Thomas and Katie Mazol present their solution to the CAC.

An iPad version with lots of graphics would be awesome. And people are already asking for an Android version. I will continue to add more terms and definitions … terms like gamification need to be added (I agree 100%). Also, I plan to add more examples and possibly a few diagrams where needed, if it won’t bloat the file size.

Caspian Learning just released a new version of its Thinking Worlds 3D software. This is version 3.3. The latest additions make the creation of immersive 3d learning and performance simulations even more cost effective than previous versions of the software. A number of exciting things are happening in 3D space.

I've always enjoyed Common Craft videos and as of a few months ago, they've created a new business model in which educators (and others) can purchase a high quality versions of the videos and either post them on the web or download for use in classroom or training room. Additionally, the downloadable versions are of a higher quality.

And now in its alpha version you can check out a "sorta" 3D virtual MTV as the station moves to create an online venue for fans of the cable network to hangout when they are not watching music videos. Check out the alpha version of Virtual MTV. So I was around and in the "prime music age" (read teen) when MTV launched.

The goal of this phase is to create a playable version of the game so learners can get a sense of the game and the development team can understand the programming challenges involved with creating the game. The second phase is the Programming Phase. In this phase the prototype game will be developed including in-game artwork and activities.

What’s the average amount of teachers that try the gamified version of learning? I don’t have a number on the amount of teachers that try gamified versions of learning but I have a few numbers and ideas that might give us some insight. Many teachers use the standard learning methods (textbooks, paper, pencil, etc.).
