I co-organized a meetup about interactive video in the Netherlands. My own experience with interactive video had been adding questions to videos with the help of Zaption (which no longer exists) and Edpuzzle. I also experimented with Vialogues to facilitate a conversation around a video source. What is interactive video?

There is a lot of attention for video and use of multimedia online, after all youtube has almost 300 million view hours per day.Gemma Critchley talked about emoties while learning: "people will forget what you said but they will not forget how you made them feel". That partly explains the recent attention for video as a medium.

Friday''s session about use of video for learning things showed that a mother look for it in a cookbook and her son looked on the Internet for a movie. The clever use of video was central, to our session: h ow can you use video in learning and education ? just search on Youtube for a convenient explanation.

You can do a lot with video and audio. Think of the success of the YouTube teachers. Don't make the usual talking head video, but let the expert respond to 3 practical situations. I remember the video of a teacher who had won a prize. Eg recording a video via Traintool or Flipgrid reacting to a difficult situation.

Youtube - channels and playlists Everybody knows Youtube. Screencast-o-matic - or other screencasting tool I think every teacher or trainer should be to make a so-called screencast video to explain one of your subjects. The bad news is that for every tool also is another alternative.

Voice icebreakers You may use a service like Voicethread to create a short video to which participants may comment. Youtubing In a Dutch program on television they have a Youtube compilation on a certain key word. In similar way, you could ask people to share the funniest videos about social media culture for instance.
