The recent story of Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo, struck me as an interesting case. Both of these would be good outcomes for Yahoo. And, as I’ve said before , conversations are the engine of business. You need to be interacting to be advancing. to have folks sharing more.

Forums vs. Social Networks?

So, I'm trying to figure out what's going to be the right software / service to adopt, but I'm also trying to think about the differences in: Forum / Threaded Discussion / Group Examples are Google Groups and Yahoo Groups. Typically they center around threaded discussions. Generally are easy to get into. Options are simple.

Interestingly when Yahoo create MyWeb as a competitor to del.icio.us Hopefully, we'll begin to see ways to allow a better handling of inside and outside the firewall solutions. For example, having social bookmarking that allows links to be kept private to a group. before acquiring del.icious - they had features that did this.
