Authoring Tool Market – What I am seeing

Because the industry as a whole is a lemming, I expect more vendors to come on board. Right now I am doing a survey on authoring tools (more on this at the end of the post) and so far 100% of all respondents state that HTML5 output is required in an authoring tool. HTML5 output. Not anymore.

What I hear a lot is “L&D” and not training, when they identify who they are targeting for the tools, platforms, etc. LRSs not being utilized by vendors who have it in their systems.

With folks being out of the office in droves, this in turn led to, an overall slow sales cycle for a large percentage of vendors in the learning system space. Back in the mid 2000’s and then again, around 2010-12, the summer was a dead zone for vendors. When targets are missed, well, that is not good news for a vendor.
