What I hear a lot is “L&D” and not training, when they identify who they are targeting for the tools, platforms, etc. SaaS authoring tools, trying to become hybrid Lite LMSs (a return of a trend I totally disliked back in 2010-2014). Instead of making a better SaaS authoring tool, a percentile of them, are using features you would see in an LCMS, a market that is minimal in today’s world, compared to say 2000 or even up to the mid 2000’s. .

I have always liked their Microsoft Office courses which appear as the software itself with tutorial capabilities of “show me, assist me, let me do it” angle. For example, I really don’t see an advantage of keeping courses for Microsoft XP or 2000. . Nor do I see an advantage of a leadership courses where the people in it are wearing clothes from the late 90’s or early 2000’s. Y o u may be sitting right now with third party content in your LMS.

A robust system that contains everything from a perfect score in my learning environment functionaliy to administration (also a perfect score) to content curation, video management (with auto detection FPS) to the ability to accept course standards including xAPI and PENS. Course standard support is only xAPI (thus no SCORM, etc.). Supports all course standards including xAPI and PENS, and yes, SCORM too. At this time, does not support xAPI. Ties into xAPI.

But the systems that are coming into the space nowadays have ditched the robust stats for just the basic stats, which – HERE COMES THE IRONY – is how systems were appearing back in the early days – early 2000’s (as a whole). Oh, SCORM and xAPI too. Auto-synch with SIS, SSO with Office 365, APIs, LTI and xAPI too. . #3 Lots to get do, so little time or space for that matter. What I am seeing. Less statistics.
