I don’t and still don’t understand the love for Kirkpatrick, which was designed/created for ILT. I see that folks take this model for ILT, then shove them into the online course builds and go, “See, it is perfect for that.” The rest captures the learner’s attention; I rarely see it in seminars for ILT.

Look today, at the number of folks who still hang onto ILT. Eliminate the inherent problems with ILT, which includes people afraid to ask questions, the session driven by the instructor, a step by step even if the learner/trainee has zero interest OR already knows and wants to know a specific section. As far back as 2000.

You could purchase 3rd party content as early as 2000. After they started to appear, Skills made an appearance – again, tied to content (which included micro-learning – been around since 2000 BTW, content the term itself – LXPs were the first ones to push out this term in greater numbers, and courses).

They do have e-learning courses, besides their ILT. I still believe you can do more with e-learning than ILT. For example, I really don’t see an advantage of keeping courses for Microsoft XP or 2000. . This is why I can’t understand why Linkedin didn’t do more with Lynda.com. Course rating: B.

The system is still about synchronous based learning, which is fine, but it is nothing more than sticking ILT online. Yeah it supports mobile and yeah it includes a nice feature set, and yeah its UI is strong, but while they were cool in the late 90′s and early 2000′s they seem to have lost their way. Bottom Line.

What irked my brain on a recent press release was that the vendor announced they would have over 12,000 courses from Linkedin Learning (it is the Lynda.com courses/content) in their (the vendor’s) system. . And every system as early as 1999-2000, could accept and the courses would work in their system.

Equally horrible, is that some companies are still using old versions of IE or an outdated computer system with Windows 2000 on it. Linkedin tied into Twitter is an example of APIs. Linkedin averages a new user per second.
