I will also stick my neck out and suggest that the current economic downturn will drive a trend of measuring learning effectiveness through business metrics (sales, churn, defect rates, opex etc.) The challenge (technical and business) would be to allow users to do the mash-up instead of the vendors. And this trend will endure.
