Ray Sims - Ongoing Series of his PWLE
JUNE 11, 2007
I never know what kinds of things to link to in my blog posts, but definitely if you've not been checking out Ray Sim's recent posts where he dives into how he uses different tools as part of his PWLE. Search Alert Tips LinkedIn del.icio.us Taking a look at some of his early posts around personal learning and doing environments is also time well spent if you are interested in learning how to learn. I love how Ray translates concepts into practice.
Personal Work and Learning Environments (PWLE) - More Discussion
JUNE 4, 2007
I've run across a few different posts talking about Personal Work and Learning Environments which I have tentatively started to call PWLE - pronounced p-whale. The reason why I think it's worth us talking about tools and maps and basically what is your PWLE (p-whale) is that it's helpful for us to figure out how to support our own personal work and learning.
PLE - PWLE Discussion Contiunes - Corporate vs Personal and IP Rights
JUNE 10, 2007
The enterprise provides tools to employees that they can use as part of the PWLE. I could understand an argument that it would be preferable for individuals to be able to use the same tools outside the corporation for personal interests - but I don't see his argument that it is no longer a PLE or PWLE. I would have trouble separating a PWLE from the rest of my life, let alone the rest of my learning. Thus, there's no separation between a PLE and a PWLE.

Personal Work and Learning Environments (PWLE) - eLearning Technology. Thinking is so over - Times Online. The idea that content on the web is "free" is mistaken: the hidden cost may be the demise of old media and entire art forms on which the free content depends.
Blogging Inside or Outside the Corporate Firewall
JUNE 7, 2007
Stephen Downes commented on my recent post - Personal Work and Learning Environments (PWLE) - More Discussion and said - I am opposed to the trend coming from the corporate learning side of the house to treat PLEs as work tools. What is it about people in corporate learning that they feel the need to perpetuate the attitude of servitude it seems all learners must adopt.

JUNE 11, 2007
Monday, June 11, 2007 Personalization does not equal Personal Ive been catching up this morning on all the recent PLE posts, particularly Tom Haskins recent entries. Back in 2007, I pointed out various aspects of what I was seeing: strategy/strategic and performance are back as topics after dropping way down in 2006 surprisingly trainer is also back, you would think in the age of eLearning 2.0 130) Work Skills (26) PWLE (16) Flash Quiz (8) Knowledge Work (40) That's a pretty fair representation of topics that I talk about. 2006 2010 2007 Does the associated years for SharePoint suggest it's a technology for the future?
Informal Learning Technology
MAY 11, 2009
Akili, 2007) I was just recently looking back at my post Training Methods and have been evaluating submissions as part of preparing for the upcoming eLearning Tour. When I look at this from more the PWLE ( Personal WORK and learning environment ) perspective, I find that there are similar functions, but possibly a different mind set. There's a fantastic post by Stephen Downes - New Technology Supporting Informal Learning.

Learned about Learning in 2009
DECEMBER 14, 2009
Knowledge Work Skills / Work Literacy Having realized in 2007 that there's a very important Knowledge Worker Skill Gap , I felt the need in 2008 to find ways to help knowledge workers and organizations build skills like Leveraging Networks , Network Feedback , Finding Expertise , Using Social Media to Find Answers to Questions , Learning through Conversation and searching, scanning, etc. was considered a hot term in 2007 and 2008, but not in 2009.

It's always interesting to look back at the past year - 2008, think about what has changed for me during the year, and think about what that means for the next year - 2009.
