Audio in E-Learning
NOVEMBER 3, 2009
Audio is a powerful and impactful tool, but it is often used incorrectly within e-learning courses. A common question is "Should we have audio in the e-learning module that exactly matches the text on the screen?" It’s not that you can’t learn from audio and text, it is just that the learning is more productive if the two are separate (audio that enhances what is on the screen not repeats it word-for-word). And research show that is not the best for learning.

Times are changing – trends in the content authoring tool market
JULY 20, 2011
There are 124 authoring tools in my latest directory, of which 30 are SaaS or a combination of desktop and SaaS – which really what is the point of that? Even though more tools are adding the features of collaborative and peer review (more on that in a sec) they are still heavy geared towards a desktop solution. I believe though, that will be higher, especially with these tools meeting and honestly beating some major league competitors. Mobile Learning.

Every multimedia developer’s nightmare…the LCMS
AUGUST 7, 2009
As a multimedia developer the thought of developing e-Learning with an LCMS development tool sends shivers up my spine (not the good kind, like when you learn a new way to make something animate in Flash…yes, I know I need to get out more). Don’t get me wrong, the majority of LCMS development tools are great for rapid development, and are a great way to manage content and content objects with a single application.
Do Microcourses Have a Place in Workplace Learning?
DECEMBER 28, 2009
From Wikipedia – Microlearning deals with relatively small learning units and short-term learning activities. Generally, the term ‘microlearning’ refers to micro-perspectives in the context of learning, education and training. More frequently, the term is used in the domain of E-learning and related fields in the sense of a new paradigmatic perspective on learning processes in mediated environments on micro levels.

eLearning Portal Integration
OCTOBER 13, 2009
Initially, the conversation was about having learning content appear on the enterprise portal. Many LMS vendors provide portlets, gadgets or widgets that allow for access of learning content (most often meaning courses and courseware) through the corporate portal. But this only scratches the surface of what it means to integrate the Learning Management System (LMS) into the systems that people use day-to-day in an enterprise. eLearning Technology.
