As you know, I’m my own organization and I study other organizations…some of which were there. They do about 150 conferences a year and have it down to a science. I had planned on doing the entire presentation in the cloud switching back and forth between various sites but learned there was no Internet service in the conference center. My talk, the last of the day on Tuesday, was about cloud computing (hence my desire to deliver it in the cloud).

When or When Not to Use Open Source LMS?

If I am getting the open source system customized, will it still be able to support enhancements that will be made to the system in future (remember with open source systems the development community would not know how you have customized your system, and hence won’t make future enhancements that may fit the customized LMS)? Now, the million dollar question – How do Open Source & Proprietary LMS’s compare on Cost Front? You love Microsoft!

Further to the above, businesses now deploy whole cohorts of contingent workers to meet skills gaps and achieve particular strategic goals. These workers need to be onboarded, trained in relevant skill sets and given the knowledge to work in compliance with industry regulation, but trying to do this within the corporate LMS can be a struggle.
