The hiccups were along the lines of slower than anticpated adoption of data visualization, and sluggishness of LRS too, which although I thought wouldn’t be fast, I was surprised how bad it really was from within an LMS. as the key indicators for DL (aka as machine learning in the consumer world). Super speed hot for 2018.

And now onto the Corporate forecasts for 2018, for e-learning and immersive learning. Learning Systems. Micro-learn systems with content that is short, video, text, PDFs slowly increase. While some micro-learn systems pitch the content as a “course”, I think that will be a stretch.

Who would have guessed that VR would be on wobbly ground in the corporate learning space for the majority of verticals? I do not know if it will be by the end of 2018 or by Q2 of 2019, but when they launch, besides the big whoopla that comes with it, they will do damage. The monsters of the marketplace are coming.

Anyway, the awards for online learning and systems, etc. Sure we see it in films (eh Kingsmen Golden Circle), but e-learning? . Ok, I will say more because here is 2017’s edition for the WORST in e-learning. SAP SuccessFactors Learning. I still hear folks who mention they are considering Oracle for learning.

People do not want traditional LMSs; they want streamlined learning platforms. Yes , there are plenty of folks who are seeking a learning platform or other subsets of LMSs, but when you look at the $$$, the LMSs as a whole are far outweighing learning platforms. . Deep Learning – hits hot mode. Nothing more.
