Introduction
I’ve had Kelly Clarkson’s song, My Grownup Christmas List, stuck in my head for the past week, so I decided to make the most of it. Read on for my version, called “My LXD Wish List.” (Too bad I couldn’t get Kelly to sing it for you!)
This post combines some of my favorite things: holiday songs, karaoke, gift-giving, and books. Be sure to read to the end to learn how to win a holiday gift! Betcha can’t guess what it is!
(It’s a book. I’m not mysterious.)
My LXD Wish List Video with Lyrics
If you don’t mind some pitchy karaoke, select the video to hear the song. (Kelly Clarkson I am not!) Or you can just read the lyrics below.
Feel free to record your own cover and share! (Note that I can’t transfer the rights to the musical accompaniment.) I’d appreciate credit for the lyrics, please, with a link back to this post.

My LXD Wish List Lyrics
Do you remember me,
A simple LXD?
My designs solve performance needs.
Well, I am dreaming now…
Can someone tell me how…
Can you indulge these simple fantasies?
So here’s my learning wish,
my LXD wish list,
not for myself, but for all in L&D.
No more death by a thousand slides.
We’d all agree to analyze
learning needs, not learning styles.
And every course would fill a need,
with performance goals to meet,
evaluation to complete.
This is my LXD wish list.
As an inclusive LXD,
here’s what I believe:
all deserve learning opportunities.
And we in L&D
can make that come to be.
We can use our power for inclusivity.
No more marathon Zoom calls,
or exams that are just recall,
or aren’t accessible for all.
And everyone would use CamelCase,
and GIFs won’t autoplay,
and learning would stick and stay.
This is my LXD wish list.
Do you think we can all agree that it’s time to turn the page?
Yes, it’s only when we truly care that we make a lasting change.
No more locking down NEXT,
or teaching without context,
and captions would be correct!
Everyone would get along,
and know that they belong,
and learning would be lifelong.
This is my LXD wish list.
This is my learning design wish.
This is my LXD wish list.

Speaking of books, I’ll be taking a couple weeks off from the blog to catch up on my reading (and other things). The blog will be back January 9, 2023.
