After adding a video asset to the Timeline in Camtasia, it's likely you'll want to freeze a specific part of the video to allow for other Timeline objects to appear (such as annotations or images).   In the image below, I've added a video to Track 1 on my Timeline. TechSmith recently announced an update for Camtasia from version 2019 to version 2020.    In the image below notice that I've added some media to the Camtasia Timeline. Gaps between Timeline objects aren't ideal, and I have two gaps as indicated by the orange annotations in the image. To enable this feature, click the magnet icon to the left of the track as shown in the image below. In the image above, the Timeline is detached.

ADOBE CAPTIVATE 2019: Three Cheers for Improved Assets in Version 11.5

Adobe recently released a significant, and free, update to Captivate 2019, its flagship eLearning development tool.   In Captivate 2019 (11.5), clicking  Assets  still opens the Assets dialog box, but wow-oh-wow will you find some wonderful new stuff here. However, what I'm loving is the addition of Icons , more 360 Assets , Images , Videos , Audio , and Buttons.   In the image below, I've selected the  Play  button.

Don’t get me wrong, there are still a lot of great reasons to do traditional screen recordings, but if you want something a little more polished AND that takes some of the pressure off of making it perfect, then Snagit’s new ability to create video from images can be a lifesaver. So, now you can make sure you have exactly the image you want to share before you go through the process of recording your video. If you need to go back to a previous image, you can do that, too.

In a previous article , I showed you the hot new assets that are available in Adobe Captivate 2019 (update 11.5). This update, which is free to current Captivate 2019 users, really does fill a void found in older versions of the software: a lack of quality templates to use as the starting point for new projects.   All that I needed to do was replace the placeholder text with my content, perhaps add a few slides here or there, and maybe swap out some of the images.

5 Reasons to Blur Images at Work (When in Doubt, Blur it Out)

This flattens the info to a static image file, completely stripping out all underlying data and removing any chance that something could be uncovered later. Instead of covering up the offending content, you can blur it out, so you don’t ruin the aesthetic of the image. Hide anything you don’t want people to see (or would rather they don’t see), such as background faces, house numbers, or anything you want to obscure from your image.

3 Techniques You Need to Stop Making Boring Screenshots

Instead of just identifying a particular element or object, often you need the user to know context about the image itself (e.g. Select a stamp, click to apply it to your image, and then resize, move, and rotate it to get the look you need. Adding stamps offers additional clarity when users see the image with an accompanying email or help article. To create that I used the Image from Template feature in Snagit 2020, which is found in the new Create menu.
